SCY (Sambor Community Youth): Mony

August 15, 2023 Cambodia Work & Learn

Young people are leaving their hometowns to go to work in the city, and with the hope of changing this trend, we have started various projects using 45 hectares of land.
One is a cashew nut farm. In the region, F1 varieties are planted for immediate profit and increased income, but we are sticking to ancient varieties and taking care of them without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
For our chicken project, we also organize small-scale farmers in the neighborhood to supply chicks, feed, and vaccines, and to teach them how to raise their chickens. We also support them by selling chickens for butchering to restaurants and markets, aiming to create stable jobs for local farmers. Other projects include raising cows and making compost with their manure and returning it to the fields as compost, breeding edible crickets, and, in the future, rice cultivation, wild boars, ducks, and more.
