Today, Thursday, May 4, 2023 Simalu Team was invited by High Scope International School to collaborate together in commemoration of world earth day. The activity carried out today is the socialization of the procedures for sorting waste by simalu.
Participants in this socialization event consisted of school children grades 1 to 6. Junior High School levels 1-3. Senior high school level 1-3. In total, 305 students and 10 lecturers joined in this meeting.
As the speaker in this socialization, I Ketut Adi Purnawan, the founder of Simalu. The material presented is related to waste problems, the bad effects of waste, procedures for sorting waste and how waste is processed so that it has an impact on environmental cleanliness and provides additional economic benefits for families.
The socialization was divided into three sessions based on the class level of students in the High Scope School. Each session is 60 minutes long for material presentation and discussion. The first session with participants at the elementary school level, delivered material more on identifying the types of waste that must be sorted and how to do the sorting. The second session was with students at the junior high school level. And the third session with senior high school students. All participants were very enthusiastic about paying attention and asking questions directly during the socialization.
There is concern from children about environmental cleanliness and a lack of ways to manage waste. There were several students who had sorted their waste at home, but in the end, when the garbage was taken by the officers, the sorted waste was mixed again with other waste. Complaints about the existence of landfills have also become their focus because of the unpleasant smell they generate.
This moment is an opportunity for the simalu team to collaborate again with schools that were previously stopped due to the pandemic. Simalu provides solutions for sorting and processing non-organic waste, starting from transportation to sending non-organic waste to the processing site.
